The K-8 music curriculum at Our Lady of Loretto includes:
GENERAL MUSIC INSTRUCTION:
A planned music curriculum that follows the scope and sequence of California’s instructional guidelines
Incorporates the following core concepts: Rhythm, Musical Form, Composition, Melody, Expression, Harmony, Music Heritage, and Aesthetic Valuing
Singing
Music Theory
Recorder instruction
Group instruction for Handbell/Handchime ensembles
Orff Instruments and training
Unique Middle School music electives (glee club, world music sampler, etc.)
CHORAL ENSEMBLES:
3rd and 4th grade Liturgical Choir
1st and 2nd grade “Miniatures” Chorus
RELIGIOUS SERVICES:
Music direction for Masses
Music direction for special church events
CHORAL CONCERTS: The students perform in two choral concerts each school year. These performances are wonderful celebrations of music and worship. They are open to all members of the school and parish community.
