Miss Jamie Wise and her family have a strong history and connection to OLL. They have been a part of the OLL community since 1996. Her sisters attended OLL from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and Jamie herself attended up until middle school. Her grandma, Dianne Wise, was heavily involved in the community by serving 'Hot Lunch' with parents, and helping Aide K and 1st grade for multiple years. Her father was on the board, and her mother, Miss Wise, helped organize fundraisers/events, and has now been the Administrative Assistant for over 10 years.
Jamie went to San Marin High School and finished at San Domenico School. She studied Psychology and Sociology at Central Oregon Community College for two years. She took time off from college and came back to OLL to be an Aide and Keane Care staff member in 2023. She then received her WFR (Wilderness First Responder) certification and AEGIS certification, (teaches deescalation techniques to prevent violence and promotes safer outcomes for crisis intervention), in order to become a Wilderness Therapy Guide at Open Sky. While guiding, she received the position of 'Senior Guide,' with the responsibility of managing her staff and team. This entailed exercising sound judgement while managing risk and supervision of students in wilderness settings, living and teaching primitive, coping, and communication skills, and working with the clinicians/treatment team to fulfill the individualized goal plans for each student. After a year of guiding, Jamie is now back at OLL, taking on the role of the Director of Keane Care.
Outside of school, she finds enjoyment in the outdoors by rock climbing, backpacking, and pursuing a nomadic lifestyle.
